Urban Terror prevented a suicide

<<Tomorrow morning, when I go to school, I will throw myself from the third floor because I’m tired of being bullied and beaten>>

This was the terrible confession of a 12 years old boy, left to his friends in the Urban Terror chat. Fortunatly this episode has a happy ending. The police managed somehow to intercept the source of the message that announced suicide and with the help of his parents to assist the boy. Later that afternoon the boy said that he was bullied by a classmate at the point of not wanting to live anymore.

The Police of Rome, Italy intercepted the message yesterday evening and quickly called the Headquarters of Bari, the town where the young boy lives. Then he told the agents that he wrote that message because the insults that he was reciving at school made his life impossible.

The school director has been informed of the situation.
Luckly this episode has an happy ending.

Well that probably won’t look to great on URT if he had died. I’m more interested how they tracked it.

That would be interesting if the Italian police were able to get chat from inside URT.

    • Engine says:

I was thinking about the same thing. It’s unclear for me how they “intercepted” the message. Perhaps the admin gave the IP to the police and they found his house. dunno.

  8. yeah so i will stop saying compromising thing in Urt chat

  9. vonskippy says:

Real suicides almost NEVER announce their plans. The people who announce it, especially several hours/days in advance are almost always attention whores that only want to be stopped. If no one notices, they’ll make some excuse (it was raining, the bridge was crowed, I couldn’t get on the roof, the knife wasn’t sharp enough, etc), and then they’ll come up with a new “plan” being sure of course to announce that one as well. Most never work up the nerve to carry the plan thru to the end.

    • Engine says:

True but the article mentions also a previous episode of a 15 years old that announced his suicide and got ignored and ended up in a tragedy.

      • Anonymous says:

Actually, vonskippy, that is BS. Almost all successful suicides are done by people who have tried in the past. Having tried and failed is a serious indicator that one will try again. Furthermore, talking about it is an almost as accurate indicator of likeliness to try. Even if they fail the first time, that has repercussions on likeliness to try (and succeed) the next time.

I don’t believe you have the statistics to back up your “attention whore” claim. It sounds like mommy didn’t hug him enough because your comment shows a lack of empathy as well as a lack of knowledge of the facts. Show me a peer reviewed article and your Phd in Psychology and I’ll believe you.

      • What kind of phrase is that? .. “attention whore”… We are talking about kid now. I detest bullies…in real live and in games.

        • pnk|G}{oST says:

Vonskippy, most people who plan to commit suicide or have committed suicide leave clues, such as this young boy. People can barely hold a secret, let alone kill themselves without talking about it to someone. It was very fortunate people made the effort to rescue this kid.

Your demonstrated lack of empathy for this young boy is disheartening. Next time you run your mouth, make sure you actually know what you’re talking about. From a psychological standpoint, you seem unhappy with your life. I would highly suggest you resolve whatever issues you have with yourself or with anyone so you can be a happier individual and treat others you know or don’t know with respect. I mean this with the greatest sincerity and concern for you as an individual and for those around you.

    what an amasing story :o

  11. Sirmimer says:

Good job to whoever did the calls to the police, and didnt ignore it!

  12. Tizz says:

    I hope this boy isn’t a cheater. =d

Just keep in mind that someone who warns before committing a suicide generally doens’t want to die. It’s just a SOS. Fortunatelly, it worked and the boy is still alive.
(People who really want to die don’t warn, they just kill themselves it surprises everyone around them.)

  13. Arch says:

We are talking about little kid here. Amazing that there are parents out there which let their 12 year old play violent games. And it’s pretty common too.

And btw. I don’t think he was seriously trying to commit suicide.

  14. Flamey says:

Urban terror really isn’t violent. It’s good that this was prevented. I know that attempted suicides and announcing doesn’t mean the person is an attention seeker. Crying out for help, an SOS makes a lot more sense than just blatantly insulting emotionally fragile people. It’s cynical people like vonskippy that make the world not so pretty after all.
