FTW Gaming League 2009 Winners
The For The Win Gaming League has wrapped up it’s first season. FTWGL is a for-fun gaming league for Urban Terror. It its operated by volunteer administrators with the sole intent to provide fun competition between teams who elect to compete. It had teams from North America, South America and Europe. It started “for fun” and it growth to an impressive size with 23 CTF teams, 28 TS teams, and 14 Bomb teams. The first season was a success and this definitely opens the doors to future, bigger, editions.
Capture the flag was won by /VeX/ (the same team owned by tarquin in this video) over #1 Golden on ut4_subway over 2 maps. Final score: 6-1.
Team Survivor was won by Area[51] (the clan of our author don) over SYH on ut4_turnpike in 2 maps.
Bomb Mode was won by Area[51] over /VeX/ on ut4_algiers and ut4_abbey.
Great tournament for Area 51 which confirmed itself as a very strong clan and also great tournament for /VeX/ which accomplished both the first place in CtF and the second place in Bomb Mode.
Congratulations to all winners and participants. Also great job at the guys behind this.

This league is totally unknown in Europe no ? I never heard anything about it.
Considering sgv played in it, with some of europe’s best players, I’d say it is well known in Europe by good competetive players with awareness of the wider world of urt – by possibly not everyone.

There is sgv’s page from the FTW site. I presume you don’t consider these to be among Europe’s best. My mistake in that case

I think you really need to look at the perspective of things. ICU did not even make the playoffs. One player does not make a team. ICU is a good team, but definitely not the best. I don’t know why they aren’t better, because they have some great players on their team. I assume they just don’t care that much anymore. ICU could do some damage to 51, but ICU could not beat 51.

Seven Golden Vampires (sgv) are the noob oldschoolers American clan i think. At least they played STA? and FTW in that clan name. Dunno if they used to play in euro leagues with that name to.
Btw. ]3east I would really really like to see a better system for linking the matches screenshots+ demos. Cause it is REALLY REALLY hard to find all the screens, you have to screen pass forum after forum.
At least thats the way i do it, if i wanna watch a screen.
A simpler way, like on clanbase would be really nice.
