Get ready to frag some bad guys with this small guide! We will guide you through the choice of controls, weapons, equipment and so on. Come on and let’s enter the fray with Daily ‘Nade’s Getting Started guide for Urban Terror!

How to download and install the game is explained here, so check it out if you already didn’t.

1. Run the game

Open up Urban Terror. Remember: if you’re on a Mac, some keys will not work unless you switch to full screen or window mode by pressing Cmd+Enter.

2. Set up your graphics settings

Access the graphics settings form the menu by going into Setup > System.
Depending on the specifications of your Pc or Mac, you might wanna do some changes to the graphics settings. Remember: the number one priority is to get a high frame rate, so you might wanna set some of your settings to low.
If you can set a high resolution and play fullscreen. Higher resolution means higher chances to spot enemies.
If you have a good machine you can keep almost every settings set to high.

3. Set up your controls

Access the controls settings from the menu by going into Setup > Controls.
Depending on your taste and your experience with other FPS you should change the keys based on your preferences.

4. Set up game options

Access the game settings from the menu by going into Setup > Game Options.
Set right away the Field of View to 110. There is a huge difference between 90 and 110 that allows you to enlarge your peripheral vision and see enemies that walks at the corners of the screen.
Change your crosshair depending on your taste and your experience with other FPS. For example I started with the Circle with the Dot in the middle, since I have a good experience with Halo.

5. Find a server

Click on “Play Online”. Here you will find your server list. Turn “Show Full” and “Show empty” to “no” so you will see only servers you can access to. Click on “Get New List” and let him load the whole server list. Next, order them by ping (with the lowest ping at the top) by clicking on the “Ping” column. Basically the lowest the ping, the faster is the connection between you and the server, so less lag probabilty. Also you might wanna find a server from your country, to have even less lag and to play with people that speaks your same language.

6. Start playing
