DE or Beretta?
That is the question.
The two sidearms in Urban Terror are very different from each other, but wich one is the best? Well, we’ve packed up the opinions of some players and let’s find out what they said. Here’s what they said wich might help you decide.

I personally prefer the DE as I think it has almost the same capability on long ranges but does much more damage. I often use it as a room cleaner or in long narrow corridors, like the support hallway in ut4_swim. I also think it’s superior to the Beretta, because it can do more damage while not having to click as often. That is a big advantage if you’re not trained.

I prefer the Beretta for two reasons. It supports silencer and for my style of game I prefere the amount of bullets instead of precision. I would use Desert Eagle probably only in a 1vs1 match.

The Beretta generally takes longer to kill but is of course much better against those without helmets. If you have bad aim you might also consider the Beretta over the Desert Eagle for its higher ammo capacity. The Deagle, though, dealing much higher damage is better for clutch situations when every shot that lands is likely to kill the opponent, and works much better against helmeted teams.

I actually prefere DE because of its power and precision. In fact often in CTF attackers doesn’t wear kevlar and you can take them down with just 2 shots. It’s one of the most powerful and precise weapons in the game. On the other hand the Beretta is harder to use it to kill people because it doesn’t deal much damage and should be used with additional equipment like Laser or Silencer.

DE is by far superior thanks to its high damage and low recoil when fired quickly. 3 vest shots, or 2 vest and 1 limb shot, will cause death. Many players also find it easier to shoot rapidly.

I’m a DE user. I find that once you’ve played with the DE long enough, and you’ve trained your aim to be as precise as you can be, the DE is a much more effective weapon.
I used to use the Baretta only when I first started playing urt, but now I’ve learned how to use the DE to make all 7 shots count.
i do have a question…
when i have just killed someone with the DE, and i have say 3 or 4 bullets left, should i reload or just keep those bullets in the gun, and unload after next kill with it?
You should reload even if you have 5bullets in them especially if your a sniper without a secondary wep, like me

I’d say it really depends on the situation. If you’ve got extra ammo left over, you might as well reload. Since there’s only 2 sidearms in urt, you have a %50 chance of picking up more DE ammo from someone you killed or anyone else who has died.
Some people are really anal about spent ammo and like to make every shot count. If you’re like that, I’d say to just make your last few shots count, and if the enemy is still standing try to get him with your knife.
I think you should reload. I tend to use the sidearm to finish opponents when I’m temporary out of bullets with my primary weapon and/or secondary weapon. By doing that I must be ready to pull it out and quick finish an opponent, usually firing very quickly, so my DE must be always fully charged.
I prefer the Beretta, nine times out of ten you aren’t going to be using your sidearm to try and take down an unharmed target, you’re going to be using it to finish off someone you have already shot up using your primary since it is faster to switch to your sidearm than it is to reload. In this case the amount of damage you can do isn’t going to make a big difference and the Beretta is a little more reliable at range. Plus, the “pistol whipped” obit notification is just plain classy!
I would beg to differ. I like both gun, but I think the Beretta is a little more versatile. It has way better accuracy at long range and it supports a silencer. With that said, the DE excels when used at point blank. In maps with mostly small rooms and tunnels, I prefer the DE, but in any map with wide open areas, the Beretta shines with it’s excellent accuracy and higher bullets count.
It depends from situation and from the other weapons you are using.
Usually I choose a DE, but playing in maps with big open spaces (i.e. Ramelle or Rihyad) Beretta has more accuracy. Other situation where Berretta is preferable are:
- when you use a UMP as secondary (UMP is almost the same than a DE)
- in pistol only games (with double ammos)
Id usually pick the DE when the server has real good Hit’s if they don’t then its Beretta, thought both can be used to the highest point of potential where both may be neck and neck competitive against each other.
I say DE:
Retta: You are shooting at 2 people with automatics, u kill one with the auto matic but only have 3 shots left, they have no damage on them, you pull out the side arm, shoot them 4 times in the chest but u cant get the fifth off before they shoot u 4 times in the chest with an Lr300, m4, g36, any other gun that does same damage as lr300.
DE:ou are shooting at 2 people with automatics, u kill one with the auto matic but only have 3 shots left, they have no damage on them, you pull out the side arm, shoot them 3 times in the chest or 2 in chest and 1 legs and they bleed to death or are dead on impact.

If you are a flag carrier with 2 people after you and you’re back paddling without support from your team. They around 20 metres away after just spawned and you made some ground. Your primary is out of ammo.
DE: You can’t pull off shots unless they’re closer otherwise you’ll most likely to be wasting precious bullets. If they don’t kill you at range then you have a good chance of killing them.
BE: Spam at both legs, then if they’re not slowed down enough just reload! Only takes half a second if that.
This is the situation I find myself in in quite a number of occasions. Depending or your equipment (silencer or laser), situation and playing style, you may choose one over the other.

In serious battle,I take DE but in server Sr8-Only I take Beretta because it’s more precise (for more headshot

lol uhhh if its an sr-8 only game,,,, woulnt that mean its,,,, sr-8 only. haha if the rules are very relaxed they might let you get away with using your pistol maybe once but if your going into a server that gets real bitchy about using solely sr-8 i dint think that this site will help you much
I used to use the DE habitualy but it cant compare to the speed of a 92G thats why i switched to a berreta.
Desert Eagle > Beretta :/
Weapons are as good as the one wielding it and the job at hand. So it really depends on how good you are with it and who it is you are using it against.
I tend to grab DE against stronger opponents as it’s capable at putting enemies down quicker. Beretta (equipped with silencer) is preferred when i’m going for a more ‘covert’ or flanking position. To able to deal out damage and soften up the enemies for my team mates to finish up without attracting too much attention to myself. Saving the ammo in my primary weapon (mostly automatic) for enemies facing me in a 1-on-1 or multiple-on-1 situations.
