Positioning

While carrying an automatic you usually run around searching for enemies. While carrying the SR-8 you should instead wait for enemies and ambush them, at least in the round opening.
Knowledge of the map is essential. Circle jump to the closest sniping spot (or the one that you should cover) and wait there for enemies.

While zooming

Stand still and don’t move. I see players moving like they had their butt on fire. I usually prefer to not crouch, but it depends on the situation. If you run while zooming, the penalty movement will lend the shot to rely too much on luck which isn’t good. You can walk while zooming which has a very low penalty movement, but you should do that only if enemies are somewhere nearby and you can’t stop to aim. Aim right next to the corner where you think that enemies will show up. This will help you against sniper that might pop up. If somebody jumps in the way, just quickly move your crosshair and shoot out of instinct. This is very important and with time you will gain enough muscle memory to get 90% of the shots.

Shooting through cracks

A good sniper is the one that can shoot without exposing himself too much. To expose yourself less you have to shoot trough cracks and if there are no cracks just stand right next to a corner. Never stand in open wide areas. As you progress and gain reflexes you can narrow the cracks and become almost invisible.

After shooting

Either if you hit or miss, you are now standing in a dangerous spot and you should leave to another sniping spot. If you miss,  run away and aim right where you were standing because probably your opponent will look for you there. If your enemy is smart though he will move to flank so keep an eye on your six.

Quickzoom

Quickzoom shots are crucial. From long distances to point blank you must kniw how to zoom and shoot in a blink of an eye. This is very important if you don’t carry a secondary weapon (like I do).

Be like a fluid

The key is moving smoothly like a fluid. Circle jump then walk for a bit. Never run if not needed. Our previous article will help you a lot about moving.

10. H&K Grenade Launcher

The potato launcher is a pretty weak weapon. While in other games like Modern Warfare 2 a grenade launcher is overpowered, here it is almost useless in most situations… mostly because of the delay of the explosion. However in some situations it might come in handy to keep pressure on the enemy spawn especially in TDM or CTF. Very good players can pull out good ratios from it.

9. MP5K

Often left behind from the UMP, the MP5k can be a good weapon, especially in tough situations where every hit is important.

8. M4

Everybody seems to use the LR-300 and nobody knows that is exactly the same as the M4. I prefer the M4 because it sounds like it shoots more bullets than it really does, so I tend to spam less.

7. PSG1

Even if it seems almost useless in Team Survivor, the PSG1 can be deadly in CTF and against a team with few kevlars.

6. UMP45

The UMP is an incredibly powerful weapon. Every now and then I use it also as a primary (with laser). While in Auto it seems like a tuned down LR-300, in spam mode can take down an enemy with just a burst. You have to be pretty accurate though.

5. HE Grenade

In the hands of a good player, Grenades means at least 1 kill if not 2 per round. The key is not wasting them if you don’t hear or see anybody.

4. G36

The G36 is considered to bee a noob weapon. However in some situations is almost a must. Don’t spam with it.

3. Beretta

The Beretta is often forgotten, but against a team with few helmets is awesome. Discharge it quickly and aim for the head.

2. SPAS

Even if it has been tuned down since previous iterations of Urban Terror, is still a very powerful secondary weapon. When sniping use the DE for medium range fights and then charge forward with the SPAS. With some luck you can get even around 75% of damage with just a single shot.

1. Negev

I can’t stress on how much is it good. If only Frozen Sand would give it a liiiiitle damage boost in 4.2 it would be used a lot more.

Engine

I don’t use a secondary with the SR-8 so I’m a big DE user. My
suggestion is: save bullets. The DE makes a lot of damage so don’t
worry about taking a second more to aim rather than just spray and
pray. I try to take my time and aim even at short distances and I
shoot a bullet every 0.5/1 second. It deals so much damage that it
allows you to compensate the time you waste with damage. Shoot only if
you are sure to hit the target and don’t waste bullets. Keep it always
fully loaded: 6/7 bullets? Time to reload.

This is just my impression, but I think that a lot of players like the
sound the DE makes when it is unloaded very quickly. Seriously, I
think they do. I remember when I first started playing UrT and one of
my friends was bragging to me about how quick he could empty the clip.
I thought to myself, “yeah, but how many of those shots hit?” I guess
it didn’t bother him that he was limiting his skill by shooting too
fast. Even though the sound the DE makes when shooting in rapid
succession is extremely satisfying, shooting the gun very quickly
leads to inaccurate shots with greater spread.

What this essentially means is that the farther your foe is, the less
likely you are to hit him the faster you unload your clip. Therefore,
DE is not a good weapon to switch to if your enemy is very far away at
all. If your enemy is far, and you’re out of ammo, your best bet is to
retreat.

Up close, unload as fast as you want, since the DE is so powerful that
you only needed 1 or 2 shots to land to defeat your foe. But farther
away, the key is to take your shots very slowly.

Tarquin

The only thing you need to make sure of when using the DE is that it hits
when you shoot. That means aiming, and making sure the spread isn’t too big
when you unload successive shots. It’s still possible to shoot it fairly
fast and accurately, but just make sure the crosshair is on the enemy (as
with any weapon). If you do this, you most likely won’t run out of ammo
before the enemy dies because the DE is so goddamn strong.

Durandal

One of thew few cases where I take advantage of this is that people DO
recognize the sound of the DE… so if I’m retreating down a hallway and
being chased by a couple enemies… I will unload a fairly random barrage of
DE rounds at them… which will make a lot of players hesitate long enough
for Me to get to cover. It’s an emergency measure… but it does work.
Also… since you’re only gonna do this in tight quarters… the chances of
a couple of the rounds hitting for half their life total is pretty good.
It did take a lot of work for Me to slow down and aim My shots with the
DE… but that really is the best way most times.

Don

I like that the DE has so much ammo lying around. I don’t mind
reloading it after every kill if I have 4 extra clips, so I don’t mind
spamming a bit with it. Running out of DE ammo is very rare for me.
When sniping I often switch between the SPAS and DE to get a kill. If
my DE doesn’t do the job, I’ll rush with the SPAS and usually get the
kill. That works well in TS because you don’t have to worry so much
about 4 people swarming you. The DE is very strong against unarmored
targets. 2 chest shots and they’re down. It’s faster than the AK for
such a task. Also, if you get 2 vest shots and a limb shot, you have a
kill. Wait for the bleedout, and engage the next target or get a head
start on bandaging/reloading. Your enemy should bleed out quickly as
they have 2% health left.

Equipment to use

The most important item with the LR-300  in my opinion is the laser.
It does a great job at making a great weapon even better and no it’s not just a pretty little pointy dot, it actually affects the spread of the bullets and makes your shots more accurate.
The common setup that pros in this game use with this weapon is: LR-300, kevlar, helmet, laser. Theres a couple other variations like grabbing nades/medkit/silencer instead of helmet or laser.

How to shoot

People have problems with spaming an automatic including myself, sometimes you just lose concentration and you forget to do so and yet some people don’t even try to burst at all, thinking the more bullets I shoot the better I will be. Thats far from the truth. Spaming is a very terrible thing to do, not only does it decrease accuracy by shaking your crosshair but the spread of the bullets becomes worse and worse the longer you hold in the trigger. What I like to do is practice by trying to be able to count the number of shots i’m firing and if I can’t I consider it spam and try to slow down. Some like to actually burst 3-5 shots then let the gun calm and fire again and thats fine too but I prefer the other way. To show you how I shoot here’s a little video:

Where you should aim

Aiming automatics i’m sure has been discussed before but i’ll just give my opinion and what I like to do.
The spot I like to aim at is usually the middle of the shoulders. The further you are away the lower you should aim to counter recoil but you usually wanna keep the crosshair near the head for the deadlier shots. It’s funny sometimes though even the first bullet you fire are off most of the time, it seems sometimes leading shots infront and behind your target can get better hits.

Pros

• Amazing fire rate – It can shoot aproximately 7.36 rounds per second. The Lr-300 shoots aproximately 6.91 rounds per second and the AK aproximately 4.7 Rounds per second.
• Big magazine – 90 rounds magazine that empties in aproximately 12 seconds.
• Awesome precision – Huge precision with a little spread (that however increases while shooting).

Cons

• Low damage – It’s the weapon that deals the less damage in the game. It has the same damage stats as the Beretta.
• Slow reload – It takes 7.5 seconds to reload the Negev.

Altrough these might seem acceptable, the damage dealt by the Negev is insanely low and makes the weapon almost unplayable.
However with some tricks you will find yourself pulling out some decent results from this weapon.

Which equipment should I use?

Being such a weak weapon (in terms of damage) makes you a vulnerable target. I suggest to take Negev,DE,Kevlar,Helmet,Silencer.
If needed you can replace the helmet with the MediKit. Full protection will get yourself covered from shots coming at you and the silencer will help you keeping a low profile as long as lowering the spread a bit.

How do I play the Negev?

The Negev pretty much plays like a G36 without a scope. You must stay in areas free from enemies and full of cover. It’s high precision allows you to pull out some good shots at good distance. Not having a scope will make aiming harder so I suggest you lowering the FOV to 90 or 95. Also to see the enemy better I suggest you to set a smaller crosshair (I use 10 with the Negev).
Don’t rush with the Negev. You will get killed faster than you can press the \kill key. Try to flank the enemies but try to keep a good distance from them. The silencer will help you to stay relatively unnoticed and silent. Don’t be afraid of running away and wait for them in more safer spots, you have to be a Ninja. Watch for the bullet counter. As long as it remains over 15-20 it’s ok, you don’t have to reload.
Aim high. Try to get always shots at the torso or at the head. Notice though that a helmet shot from a Negev does only 34 damage and a torso shot does 30.
The Negev it’s also one of the few weapons in the game that doesn’t kill you with a clear headshot. A shot to the head with no helmet just deals 50 damage.

Against Sr-8

Against snipers the Negev can become deadly if you are good enough to get closer to them. If you manage to advance unnoticed or if you manage to flank them, the Negev can easily own an enemy sniper by simply rushing on them. Also the Negev is the ideal weapon for prefire and unzooming them.

Against Automatics

If you play it right you shouldn’t face close combats against autos. However, if it happens try to move as much as possible from left to right. The best thing would be running away, so if you are close to a door or a breach just retreat while shooting. You can then flank the enemy or just wait for them by faking bandage and stuff like that. If you get rushed and need a quick kill try with the de.

Why should I use the Negev?

The Negev is a good supporting weapon. It’s an intresting weapon for second-liners which can hurt enemies to help the rushers do a quicker job. Also it’s very intresting in the hands of a medic since it can support the team from far away.
The main reason you should use the Negev it’s his awesome precision.
If a good amount of foes don’t wear the Kevlar then the Negev might become an intresting choice. Also if the enemy group tends to be too tight and the enemies are very close to each other, the Negev can do a lot of damage to multiple opponents.
If the enemy team is full of snipers and the map does allow that you can be their nightmare by flanking and rushing on them.

Overall

If you like to be a supporter rather than a rusher, if you like to be a medic or if you care more about your team rather than your score perhaps you should give the Negev a try. Occasionally it might be an intresting and unexpected choice and it could work for some rounds. Also it might help you to break the monotony and just try something new. You will get familiar with Grenades as long as you use them. Especially with timing (the grenade should explode when it touches the ground) and with aiming. They are very powerfull and you should consider them when choosing your equipment.

Pros:

• Automatic shoot from near to far distances (via zoom)
• High precision
• Zoom penalty movement lower than the Sr-8

Cons:

• High spread even after a few rounds shot
• Occasional unhits (sometimes bursts to the chest are not recognized as hits, and this happens more often tha with autos)
• Lower Fire Rate than M4 or LR300

Be careful though. Some maps are not meant to be played with a G36. Maps for rushers like Turnpike or Dressing Room should be played with pure automatics like M4 or Lr300. Big maps like Riyadh or Laneway are the ideal places for Sr-8 and PSG-1. However in the majority of the other maps this weapon might be a good choice.

I personally get better results on Casa, but also in Algeris and Uptown, where there are both close up combat and wide areas and corridors.

How to use the G36?

Let’s start with the choice of the equipment. Since it is an automatic, even if it’s not that fast, you souldn’t choose a secondary weapon (you can always pick up one from a dead opponent or from a dead teamate).
De or Beretta? DE for shure because it will help you in point-blank fights since you don’t have a secondary weapon.
Kevlar AND Helmet? I would say yes, since the G36 is not a weapon to rush with. You have one slot left to choose between Nades, Silencer or Medikit. This depends a lot on your personal taste and also on the situation (maybe in a CW you are forced to choose the Medikit). I personally go with the Nades.

Here we go.

As said before, you don’t rush with G36. The best technique is to move quickly by staying in areas of the map relatively clear, using every cover possible (crates, walls), shooting the enemy from far away.
Avoid long bursts. Especially while zooming bursts should be between 3 and 5 rounds maximum. If your opponent hasn’t seen you yet you can fire single shots and finish him with a final burst. This can be a very good technique.
If your opponent is very close though just shoot longer bursts, without exagerating. If you are caught by an opponent with your zoom on, you will unzoom by instinct but often it is not the ideal choice. By practicing you will learn to not unzoom and just shooting while moving backwards, gaining time and maintaining the enemy always in your field of view.

When should I zoom?

I would say that you should start zooming when targets are at least 50 feets away from you (15 meters). To give you an idea, is the distance between the spawn and the Laundromat roof in Uptown.

How do I use the zoom in close combat?

As usual, start shooting while doing short strafes from left to right. If your opponent is far away and has an auto, stop to avoid the penalty movement and take advantage of your superior precision. If you are facing a sniper never stop before unzooming him, stop to finish him only after the first hit.

Overall

Overall the G36 is a weapon for those who think before shooting and not vice-versa.
Also remember that the silencer can lower the spread, suppresses the fire and the noise and makes you less recognizable. If this is your way of playing, this is the ideal weapon. Instead if your primary objective is to get first to the enemy respawn, leave this weapon where it is.
